Pretty Pink Dining Room

I love these shades of pink! What do you all think, do you think you'd OD on cute if this was your kitchen/dining room? It is very girlie but I think I could live with it without getting sick of it. Then again, I am single; I don't know what a husband would have to say about this - or my 17 year old son either, for that matter!

Stunning Natural Pools

It took me a couple of minutes to get used to the idea of natural pools. Sometimes I wonder how clean the water really is, but when I see pictures like these I can't help but think about diving into these swimming areas. Pretty brilliant isn't it? They are prettier than many ordinary pools you might find in a backyard. They combine a water feature/pond look with the beauty of an inviting place to swim.

19th Century Chateau in Central Park

Wow, what a gorgeous home! I can't even imagine how much this place costs, in NYC, but it must be a fortune. I especially like the windows and the spiral staircase. The ceiling woodwork is very pretty too. Ok, who wants to go in on the rent with me? Anyone? ;)

Amazing Outdoor Rooms

I was in my backyard today, taking my dog out, trying not to step in dog poop and I looked around... My yard is huge, an acre of land, and much of it is overgrown because I just can't take care of it. I myself have an injury that prevents me from doing much easier things, so yard work is right out, and I can't afford to pay a landscaper. Anyway, I did take the time to dream about what it could be like - maybe someday when the kids are grown and I hit the lottery :)

In the spirit of yard fantasies, enjoy some lovely outdoor living spaces I found for you!

Rustic Country Kitchen

So warm and homey, isn't it? I love all the woodwork, the hanging pots & the shelves full of jars. "Controlled clutter", I suppose I would call it - bottles and fruits and veggies on the counters, dishes within arm's reach on the bottom shelf of the island, plants spilling out over the shelves... It looks like someone might just burst into cooking a fabulous meal at any moment, like a kitchen you could really get creative in.

Tree & Cob Cabin

This whole cabin is evidently made of cob and recycled tree limbs, it's very cute isn't it? I always did like the exposed rafter look and this is exposed rafters to the extreme! I love the straight-up trees next to the dining table and the microwave on the right. For more info, go to Whole Tree Architecture.

Awesome Indoor Pool

This is a dream house! There's a magnificent pool right in the middle of the living space, and there's a conversation pit inside the pool - you even get to it by stepping stone! Now it does look like there are pebbles/river rocks at the bottom of the pool, which at first made me think maybe it's just a water feature and not really meant for swimming, but given the size of it that would be very impractical. Yep, I've decided, it's definitely a swimming pool. Right in the middle of the living room - amazing.

Cool Bedroom Decorating

I love the use of holiday/string lights in year-round decorating!

I think what's so appealing to me about this room is that it has so many different "feels" to it. The picture frame on the left side table and the gold mirror seem classical, traditional. The hanging ball light and the hand decoration (is it a ring holder?) on the right side table seem modern and trendy. The left side tables and the wooden seat seem kind of retro, the string lights are funky & romantic and the wallpaper is refined & elegant. The pillows, with their various colors and patterns and the vaguely iridescent sheen to the bedspread are unique and eclectic. It's multiple styles "mish-mashed" into one room but it works really well!

Grand Loft Space

What a beautiful space! I love all the marble. I don't usually love the open floor plan look but here it looks very spacious and dramatic. I like the giant fireplace dividing up the 2 living room areas, and the (I'm guessing) wrought iron decor on the staircase. Talk about a "great room"!

Industrial Kitchen Decor

I usually go for the more "warm" look but with the wooden beams and the chandelier, even a "cooler", more industrial look seems welcoming. I really like the lights over the table and the silver chairs. What do you guys think, is the industrial look for you?

Unique Split-Level Stairs

I think this picture is so interesting - you generally don't see space between an upstairs and downstairs of a house. I really like the way the doorway is raised up from the floor, necessitating its own little platform to access it. I don't care much for the bareness of this space - minimalism isn't really my forte - but I really do like this unique set of stairs and doorway.

Vintage Bedroom Decor

My mother would have loved this room, if only it were a little more colorful. The vintage decorations were right up her alley. I really like the wrought iron canopy over the bed and the hanging hats & scarves - which would be very easy to find at any thrift store. The ornate gold headboard is quite pretty too, as is the wall sconce at the far left. The only drawback I can think of offhand is how hard it would be to keep that bedspread so pristine & white!

Sleek Home with Indoor Pool

Wouldn't you love to have an indoor pool where you could have a swim (or just a relaxing float!) anytime the mood struck you? Of course your house would end up smelling like indoor pools smell (like chlorine), but I think it'd be worth it. I like the way this house has the living spaces right in the same area as the pool, as opposed to having it secluded off elsewhere in the home. I like the glass stairs, the walls of bookshelves (of course!) and the catwalk leading to the second floor living spaces. I personally am not a fan of having this much natural light in my house - it highlights every little speck of dust I need to clean - so I might have to have the large skylight removed, or at least have an option to close it.

Eclectic Wall Art

Too much or too cool? I think these are wallpaper squares all smushed together (seemingly) willy-nilly. Even though it is quite a busy look, I like it. I don't think I'd decorate my whole house like this (it's not exactly a relaxing look!) but in one room I think it's pretty cool. Sometimes when things seem to not match or "go together" at all, they end up creating an aesthetically pleasing look. Even the addition of the "mismatched" patterns of the chair & pillow, it still looks appealing to me, if for no other reason than you don't see a room decorated like this every day!

Hanging Bed-Swing

One word: WANT!! I would LOVE to have a bed like this! First of all, it's hanging - it would rock and sway you to sleep - and second of all I really like the cozy canopy enclosing the bed. This photo looks like it might have been taken at a resort or some such vacation spot, but I could definitely see myself sleeping on something like this every night in my own bedroom. What do you think of it?

Contemporary Home with Walls of Bookshelves

I LOVE bookshelves - but 2 stories of bookshelves? I'm in heaven! I really like the way this house is centered around an indoor courtyard-like space, and I think my favorite parts are the catwalks in front of the bookshelves. I'm not especially fond of the concrete - it makes it a little too industrial/sterile for my liking - but with that many bookshelves I can overlook a little austerity!

Extravagant Glass House

What an amazing house! I can only wonder how much something like this would cost! Especially striking is the clear glass water feature/fish tank in the foreground - I also like the large terraces on the house's many levels. Maybe when I hit the lottery, you think?

Sweet Shabby Chic

Isn't this a cute idea? I love the head/foot boards made to look like picket fences and the bike lamp is very cute as well. I like the high ceiling and woodwork, and the rose floral patterns are very pretty. Topping it all off of course is the comforter of my absolute favorite color - turquoise! Everything is better with turquoise :)

Treehouse in the Sky

This looks like such a peaceful hideout, like somewhere you'd run away to when the weight of the world got too heavy. I can imagine watching the sun set from the terrace, how relaxing. I don't know if I'd like climbing up and down all those stairs though!

Treehouse with Cozy Nook

I love treehouses! I also love bookshelves & I love nooks - this place has it all! I would love to climb that little ladder to the reading/sleeping nook (complete with bed!) and while away the hours there. I also really like the rustic chandelier made of antlers; my grandmother had a set of antlers hung over her garage when I was a little girl. Although this place is a little too sunny for my nature (I like the dark, what can I say?), it does look enticingly warm and cozy, don't you think?

Cute Garden Cottage

I don't know where this house is located, so I prefer to think of it as being somewhere in fairyland. Is does look like it came out of a fairy tale, doesn't it?

In my yard, one side, a hill leading up near a neighbor's house, was filled with ivy for as long as I can remember. Then my ex husband got the idea that we should get rid of the ivy and plant grass there. He went to work spraying gallons upon gallons of Round-up on the ivy, but it only ever half-worked. To this day we have no grass and sparse, patchy ivy on what was once a green covered hill. How I wish I could train ivy to grow over part of my house as neatly and prettily as it does in this picture!

Cute Caravan

If I had no kids or responsibilities, I would pack up in something like this and travel the country. I would be a total gypsy (traveler). This outdoor dining area looks very peaceful, no?

Maybe I could recreate the look? It could be cute! :)

Girls' Nook Beds

Are these not the cutest beds you've ever seen? I don't know where the photo is from, originally, so I don't know the back-story, but it seems like they could have been made out of existing closet spaces maybe? They're just absolutely adorable. They look like they might only fit a pretty small child - like a toddler bed I suppose - so they might be a tad impractical, but who cares, I think they're precious. The curtains give the beds a very cozy feel and the mural on the wall is beautiful. I wish I had a room like this when I was a little girl; then again, my brother might not have been so happy with it!

Japanese Dome Homes

Evidently this kind of housing exists in parts of Japan, it looks to me like they're mostly in clusters kind of like an apartment complex. I like the one with the polka dots on the roof, especially. Might be kind of fun to live in a dome home, what do you think?

Turquoise Dining Accents

I adore turquoise! It works so well in so many combinations, like with these shades of green. I love the funky chandelier and the pattern of the carpet. The circles on the curtains compliment the little balls on the chandelier too. Very cute & funky dining room.

I was also inspired to look for some other fun chandeliers and hanging lights:

Soaking Tub with a View

In a perfect world, I would have a tub like this. Is it a bathtub, is it a swimming pool, who can tell? It's awesome is what it is. I would love to take a swim in this tub; there's even little steps to sink down into the water. Now what would be really cool is if it were an indoor/outdoor tub, as in you could swim under the window frame to get to the outdoor pool part. I think it's enclosed, though; it looks like the outside is a water feature not meant for swimming in. Imagine how relaxing it would be to soak in that tub while watching the pretty waterfall outside. I just hope the window is positioned so people wouldn't be looking in on me trying to take a bath! ;)

Hanging Indoor Tent

Amazing! A cozy little swinging nook right in the middle of the house. It looks quite comfy with the pillows; you could just swing and rock yourself off to sleep.

I like this room's other eccentricities - the big round window with book shelving around it, the unique chandelier, the colorful walls. And who could forget the thing on the kitchen table shaped like a human heart?! I don't know exactly what it is, but I know I must have one!

Eclectic Dining Decor

I'm loving the unpretentiousness of this space. From the slightly tacky green trim to the pet water containers in the bottom right corner, it has a feeling of "hey, this could be your house". I like the folk-artsy decorations and I love the plants hanging across the windows. It looks like it might be a kind of porch or sunroom, something set off from the rest of the house. Very "accessible" feeling.

Clear Bathtub

Is this weird or wonderful or both? It's certainly unique; I've never been in a bathroom with a clear bathtub before. I can't tell by the picture how high up the glass ledge goes, but I could picture myself tripping over it in low light or when I'm half asleep. Still, it is very cool looking, to me at least. What do you think?

Colorful Wall Decor

Busy busy busy!

What do you guys think of this room, is it too busy or just "wacky chic"? You've got the print on the curtains, another print on the carpet, prints on the chairs, plus the loud, bold wallpaper. Then you've got the array of pictures hung on the wall to top it all off. Is it too much? Well, I think it might be if every room in a house was like this one, but in 1 room, it works. The color scheme stays basically the same throughout and the wide mattes on the pictures help keep everything recognizable instead of getting the artwork lost among all the other elements of this room's decor. The table and matching chair are quite cute and I very much like the vintage floral print on the other chairs. I especially like the chandelier; it goes quite well with the flower/leaf motif of the wallpaper.

Groovy Breakfast Booth

When I was younger, I used to babysit for a family who had a built in booth in their dining area. I thought it was the coolest thing! I've since found out, from talking to people who have them in their house, that they can be kind of impractical, but I still think they're cool. I really like the retro vibe in this photo: the groovy patterns on the pillows and over the curtains, especially. I also like the 50's feel of the table and benches and I love the curtains. How romantic would it be to close the curtains and have a cozy candlelit dinner at the table? What do you all think - built in booths, yay or nay?

Colorful Living Room Walls

I *love* the color of these walls! I do get sick of seeing rooms full of neutrals - grays, tans, etc. I like it when someone takes a chance on bright, bold colors. The salmon, cornflower blue and forest greens in this picture don't seem like they would go well together, but they do. The pillows and the whimsical artwork - I adore the picture over the couch - tie everything together very nicely.
